Frank McCourt, author of “Angela’s Ashes,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about his Irish childhood, died Sunday of cancer. A former school teacher who wasn’t a published author until his 60s, McCourt sold more than 10 million copies of his books in the US and Canada alone, according to his publishers, Scribner, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Inc as reported by the Associated Press.
His brother Malachy McCourt is an actor, most recently seen in a recurring role of Father Clarence on All My Children.
