Good Morning America host, Diane Sawyer, will replace her former morning co-anchor, the retiring Charles Gibson, as anchor of ABC’s World News. With Katie Couric already hosting CBS Evening News, the announcement of Sawyer means the first time two women have anchored at the same time.
Sawyer who has an extensive journalism background was the network’s natural choice. Sawyer is set to sit at the evening desk beginning in January.
Who will replace Sawyer at GMA has not been announced. Currently co-hosting with Sawyer is Robin Robins with Chris Cuomo doing the news and Sam Champion handling weather.
