Sophomore cast member Michaela Watkins’ contract with the show was not renewed, her publicist confirmed to the AP.
The news was first reported by the Web site Comic’s Comic. The site also reported that freshman cast member Casey Wilson had been cut from the show.
A person close to the show confirmed to the AP that comedians Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad have joined the show.
Watkins spoke exclusively to Entertainment Weekly about her to no longer being on the show. In response to the question of her reaction of being fired, she said “…Shock. And sadness [because] it just felt premature. But on some level I feel like there are so many opportunities and things that I want to do in the future and now they’ll just happen sooner rather than later.”
The new season premieres on Saturday, September 26 on NBC with Megan Fox as the host.
