Comedy master Eddie Murphy is reportedly in talks to host the 84th Annual Academy Awards telecast in February of next year. Oscar producer and movie director Bret Ratner wants to suggest Murphy to members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this week, according to Deadline.com.
Murphy is said to be interested in hosting. Murphy as a choice is not unusual considering that last years hosts were Oscar nominees Anne Hathaway and James Franco.
Murphy will star in the upcoming movie, “Tower Heist,” with Ben Stiller directed by Ratner. The movie is about a group of men who seek revenge after they find out that they’re victims of a Ponzi scheme. It’s set to be released in November.
Murphy received an Oscar nomination for his role in “Dreamgirls” and known for his roles in the Beverly Hills Cop, Dr. Doolittle and The Nutty Professor movie franchises. He’s known for his voice as Donkey in the “Shrek” movie franchise.
The 84th Annual academy Awards will air February on ABC.
