The Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC) held their 16th Annual PRISM Awards this week in Beverly Hills. The awards honor television and film productions and performances that accurately depict drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction, as well as mental health issues in entertainment productions. Such shows as “Castle,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Shameless” “Dr. Drew” and “Shameless” were honored.
Spotlight-On-Entertainment, in conjunction with Daytime TV Examiner, talked to actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw on the red carpet before the show. Gugu stars on the FOX series “Touch” with Kiefer Sutherland. On the show, she plays a social worker who battles with Kiefer’s character over the care of his child. The actress felt it was important to attend and participate in the Prism Awards because of her social worker role that she plays on TV.
