BET brings back late night programming with talk show 'Don't Sleep with TJ Holmes'

BET is looking to jump into late night talk show race when it launches the new late night show, “Don’t Sleep with T.J. Holmes.” Described as a show designed to tackle all of the topics and important social issues that needs to be talked about. “Don’t Sleep” will have everyone on it from pop culture to politics.

Upon looking at the promo for the show presented at TCA, the show is a cross between Tavis Smiley and Chris Rock’s HBO show.

Holmes, a former CNN news man, will offer social commentary, insights into today’s top news and will moderate a round table debate of industry insiders, television personalities and more discussing today’s hot topics.

The series will air Monday through Thursday and will also feature a team of correspondents injecting perspective, humor and commentary about a wide range of topics. The show, according BET, will offer a late night series focused on keeping Black America “engaged, awake and in the know.”

T. J. Holmes is an award-winning journalist and television personality who is highly regarded in the African-American community. Prior to joining BET, Holmes was the weekend anchor for CNN.

He has covered the first presidential debate between Sen. John McCain and then-Sen. Barack Obama at the University of Mississippi, brought us stories from the shooting on the Virginia Tech campus, and reported from Ground Zero during the September 11 attacks.

“Don’t Sleep with T.J. Holmes” comes to BET late night in October.
