Do Something Awards recogninzes causes teens care about

The 2012 Do Something Awards honored the nation’s best young world-changers who represent the pivotal “do-ers” in their field, cause or issue. This year’s celebrity nominees included Ben Affleck, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Nicole Richie, Neil Patrick Harris, Channing Tatum, Emma Stone, Will.i.am, Adam Lambert and many others.

In addition to honoring celebrities for their work to inspire others, and a night filled with great musical performances, one young “do-er” (age 25 and under) received a grand prize of $100,000 for their cause. This year’s winner for the ultimate prize was Katia Gomez, who was recognized for the work in helping to bring schools and education to young women in Hondurus.

Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris of Fox’s hit comedy “New Girl” hosted the show with hilarious comedy bits, including Lamorne learning to swim for the first time and the three forming their own boy band “Zero Direction.”

Attending the show were Ben Affleck, Kristin Bell, Sophia Bush, Jason Dundas, John Cho, Will Ferrell, Ashley Greene, Simon Helberg, Ellie Kemper, Maria Menounos, Olivia Munn, Kelly Osbourne, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Pally and Dax Shepard to name a few.

Performing at the awards were musical acts Flo Rida, fun. and house band Kids These Days
