Once again, “The BET Hip Hop Awards” (#hiphopawards) is returning to Atlanta. This year the show will tape on Saturday, September 29, 2012 and premiere on BET Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 8 pm/EST.
“The BET Hip Hop Awards” nominees and who will host the awards will be revealed during a special LIVE episode of “106 & PARK” on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 6 pm/EST.
“The BET Hip Hop Awards” is a celebration that pays homage to the rap and hip hop culture and music. BET describes it as a subculture defined by four key aesthetic elements: MCing/rapping, DJing/scratching, breaking/dancing, and graffiti writing. The “BET Hip Hop Awards” celebrates it all by providing a platform for this culture to be cultivated and honored.

Best Hip Hop Online Site
Reese’s Perfect Combo Award (Best Collabo)
People’s Champ Award Powered by Verizon
A new category this year is the “Impact Track” award presented to the artist whose track and/or 16 bars featured on a song moves our culture forward with social commentary, political discourse or other thought provoking lyrics. This award is for the track with a message for the masses.
BET.com/HipHopAwards is the official site for the BET Hip Hop Awards 2012 where fans can visit to get up-to-date info on this year’s show and take a look back on past BET Hip Hop Awards. In the coming weeks, BET.com will launch a series of interactive timelines, games and quizzes leading up to the show. On August 28, BET Mobile will reveal its latest app creation with some exciting ways to connect with hip hop’s biggest night.
