‘The Next” isn’t just another reality competition show. Okay, it is but it’s refreshing to watch in many ways. The mentors, judges, advisors, coaches or whatever they are calling the celebrities who help the contestants, really do just that: help the contestants. Seeing Gloria Estefan in the homes of the talented people she’s helping makes it feel like the show is more about the contestants than the celebrity star power sitting in the chairs. Also in the chairs are John Rich, Joe Jonas and Nelly.
Sure the songs and the talent could be stronger, but the market seems saturated in reality competition talent pool. Also, the voting system of the pre-taped episodes seems unclear. Who’s voting and how I’ve asked my self when watching.
The show is scheduled to have live shows in November where hopefully the show will be better and the voting process will become clearer.
