Eva Longoria is returning to TV in a new comedy series for NBC called “Telenovela.” NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the singlecam comedy in which Longoria will executive produce in and star and be executive produced by actress. “Telenovela” will tell the hilarious behind-the-scenes craziness of a popular Spanish telenovela.
At the head of the series is Longoria’s character, Ana Maria, the star of Latin America’s most beloved telenovela. Ana tries to stay on top in a world where the drama on-camera is nothing compared to the drama off-camera.
Longoria is best known for her role as Gabrielle Solis on the long-running ABC series “Desperate Housewives” which ran for eight seasons and also starred on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Simpsons,” “George Lopez” and “The Young and the Restless.” Longoria also produces the hit Lifetime drama, “Devious Maids.”
