Joe Perry will receive the Les Paul Award at the 32nd Annual NAMM TEC Awards (NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards) on January 21. The annual award is given on behalf of the Les Paul Foundation. The award honors individuals that have set the highest standards of excellence in recording technology in the spirit of the famed audio pioneer, inventor and musician, Les Paul. Perry is also scheduled to perform live at the awards.
“Anytime my name is mentioned in the same sentence as Les Paul, it’s a huge honor,” says Perry in a statement. “Getting an award bearing his name is the icing on the cake.”
Perry is the co founder, principal songwriter and lead guitarist for the band Aerosmith and have sold more than 150 million albums and have won four Grammy awards.
Perry has been touring this year with his side project The Hollywood Vampires and preparing for a 2017 European tour with Aerosmith.
Aerosmith producer and engineer Jack Douglas will also be inducted into NAMM’s Hall of Fame at the awards.
Other artists who have been nominated for awards this year include Prince, David Bowie,Sting, Paul McCartney and Keith Richards.

The NAMM TEC Awards celebrate the pro audio community by recognizing the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind today’s sound recordings, live sound, films, television, and video games.
Tickets can be purchased on site or in advance for $50 (General Admission) or $175 (VIP). The show will be hosted by comedian Sinbad and will be available via a live event web stream during The NAMM Show.
