Ellen DeGeneres is heading back to primetime. The popular daytime talk show host is turning some of her most popular games from “Ellen” into a series. NBC announced a six-episode order for “Ellen’s Game of Games,” a game show based on expanded versions of games already featured on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
In a statement, DeGeneres described the show as “a combination of ‘American Ninja Warrior,’ ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and a water park.” Contestants on the game show will be pulled from the audience and will get a chance to win cash prizes by performing stunts and various things that mirror the short segments on Ellen’ show.
DeGeneres herself will host and executive produce the show. Although the Emmy-winning host helped pave the way for game segments on talk shows, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden and Steve Harvey have already established popular spin-offs of shows originated from their talk shows with “Lipsync Battle,” “Carpool Karaoke,” and “Little Big Shots, respectively.”
