Neil Patrick Harris is adding another television credit to his already impressive resume. The five-time Emmy winner is taking on hosting duties for NBC’s latest reality show, “Genius Junior.”
Described as “the ultimate test of smarts,” the show takes twelve teams of bright and talented children to compete to be crowned Genius Junior. Over five rounds, with each round tougher than the last, teams of three children will have to work together to beat the competition. The skill set of a combination of every kids academic contest all rolled into one, spelling, math and memorization. The winning team will take home the Genius Junior Grant that will set the stage for a big and bright future ahead.
“I’m thrilled to be part of a project that shines a light on extraordinary children and challenges viewers to exercise their own minds,” Harris said in a statement. “NBC is a great home for ‘Genius Junior.’ Plus, the contestants are kids, so they’re destined to be hilarious or, you know, snap. Win/win. I kid. #pun.”
Television audiences have watched Harris grown up from his debut role as a 15 year old genius doctor on “Doogie Howser, MD,” and his role as Barney Stinton on the long running CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” Harris currently stars as Count Olaf in Netflix’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events.”
In addition to host, Harris will also serve as executive producer along with Pam Healey, John Hesling, Phil Parsons and Ed Egan.
