With Coachella going strong this weekend, many of music’s biggest stars are making a mark on the popular festival even if they aren’t hitting the stage.
One such star is music sensation Halsey, was on hand to host a Three Olives Vodka’s cocktail party and pop-up fashion event ahead of the weekend.
The “New Americana” singer, who created her own signature cocktail and spirit for Three Olives, hosted a cocktail pre-Coachella party in which her cocktail was served. The Three Olives Halsey Signature Cocktail called “Welcome to the Kingdom,” is a tasty mix of Three Olives Cucumber Lime Vodka, tonic, lime juice, simple syrup, and soda.
During the event, guests were encouraged to “Find Otherness” and were treated to a one of a kind session with a celebrity stylist, something which Halsey seems to be a natural at is presenting style.
TVMusic Network was on hand and caught up with the singer for a rare interview to get her thoughts on performing live and high fashion.
“My fashion style can be described as super androgynous, with a mix between the masculine and the feminine,” Halsey told TVMusic Network at the event. “I think that shakes things up a little bit. I think people can really be surprised when they see someone wearing something that is traditionally meant for guys but taking it and wearing it in a really feminine way. Nothing is cooler to me than when I see someone wearing and saying ‘you look really pretty’ and they’re wearing a tux.’ It throws people off guard. That’s really cool for me.”
During the hot desert weekend, comfortable is key. For the afternoon, the singer paired black designer sweats and a simple black halter top with pearl straps which crisscrossed in the back and back, along with sneakers to finish off the look.
“At festivals, I thrive here because it’s all about comfortable fashion. I love sneakers, I love boots, sweatpants or getting to wear that and make it fashion. I also like accessorizing in unique ways. I have a lot of vintage pieces that I’ve found at flea markets and in other countries like Mexico nd Argentina and Chile’. They have some of the best gold jewelry. I’m into gold right now. It’s all about combining vintage and new pieces and drawing inspiration from places you never would usually.”
The singer, who has nominated for a Grammy for her performance of “Closer” with The Chainsmokers, loves nothing more than hitting the live stage and performing for her fans. She fondly remembers hitting the Coachella stage last year and says there is nothing like playing the festival stage.
“Coachella is an iconic festival,” Halsey said. “It’s been around for so long. in the beginning, it kind of struggled, people weren’t sure Coachella was going to work out but now it’s turned into this absolute monster and an essential part of culture on the West Coast. It’s also the biggest statement you can make in music. When you get to headline Coachella, that changes your career. It’s a statement. It’s one of the biggest venues in the world. Owning Coachella is like taking over the world for just a weekend.”
Halsey’s second studio album, “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” comes out this summer in June. To see her live show, check out her tour dates, which includes some shows with Justin Bieber, here: Halsey on Tour.
