The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills hosted an exclusive preview event for the latest exhibit You Can’t Stop the Beat: the Art & Artistry of Hairspray Live!
The exhibit features costumes and set pieces from the critically acclaimed television musical in an exclusive showing at the Paley Center’s Beverly Hills Location. The exhibit is free and open to the public from April 22 – May 21.
“Hairspray Live!” star Kristin Chenoweth, Executive Producer Craig Zadan, and NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt celebrated the opening with a panel conversation and screening of the hit NBC musical telecast.
Chenoweth, who portrayed Velma Van Tussle, posed in front of the dress she wore on the production as well as the other fabulous displays on hand designed by Emmy Award-nominated costume designer Mary E. Vogt.
“Hairspray Live!” aired on NBC last fall becoming the first production of its kind to use multiple stages inside on outside on the backlot of Universal Studios.
Up next for NBC is a live version of the beloved musical “Bye Bye Birdie,” starring Jennifer Lopez in December.
TVMusic Network caught up with Chenoweth at the event where the Tony award winning actress talked about her experience on the musical and what’s next for her.
Fans can catch the exhibit now through May 21.
