“American Idol” is set to return in 2018 on ABC. The announcement was made via the official twitter page of the show last week. Rumors had been swirling that ABC along with NBC and the shows former network FOX were all in talks to revived the show.
The show announced that Katy Perry will be a judges for the show. Rumors had been swirling that she was in the running. Additional judges will be annouced at a later date.
The series on FOX launched in 2002 and ran for 15 seasons. Several seasons were high ranked show and successfully helpedlaunched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Phillip Phillips, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert and Katharine McPhee to name a few.
To date, “American Idol” has earned 67 Emmy nominations and nine wins, including the Governors Award in 2016, and its talented discoveries have already won 14 Grammys, two Golden Globes and an Academy Award and more.
