On Tuesday’s Season finale of “The Voice,” winner Chris Blue teamed up with former “The Voice” Coach Usher, for a touching rendition of “Everybody Hurts.”
After the show, Blue talked about the performance that was one of the night’s highlights.
“[Usher] spoke to me in the back and said ‘Chris, I want to do this song because of basically everything that’s been going on’,” Blue said at a press conference with Coach Alicia Keys. “‘Chris,’ he said. ‘I don’t want you to try and sing this song. I want you to emotionally embrace this song.’ And that’s what we did.”
Keys was touched by Usher’s decision for the song as well and agreed that it was the right choice.
“It was such a clear version of Usher’s and I am so glad we landed on that song,” Keys added. “Everybody Hurts” is such a beautiful song. It’s difficult because there has been such a sense of joy in this process obviously for Chris and what has been blossoming during these past two nights. Then you think about all these people that are gone from such a tragedy. There is so much tragedy going on in the world so it’s definitely been an emotional rollercoaster here.”
The tragedy left 22 people dead and more that 100 injured.
