The winner of Season 12 of the Emmy award-winning show “The Voice” is Chris Blue. Blue was the last contestant chosen during the blind auditions. Alicia Keys was his coach. When Blue auditioned, Keys was the only coach with a spot open.
Blue, a 26-year-old worship leader from Knoxville, Tennessee feels that it was fate that he ended up working with Keys. Keys hit her buzzer and announced joyfully that her team was full. The other coaches were upset that they could not turn for him and Blake Shelton joked with Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani that Keys could win with him and make them look silly after hearing how good Blue’s audition was.
This was Keys second season as a coach, and her first-time winning the competition. The Grammy Award winner recently announced that this was her last season on the hit show.
Season 13 returns with Adam Levine, Blake Shelton as coaches along with Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. This will be Hudson’s first time coaching for the USA version. She previously coached and won on “The Voice UK.”
On Monday’s performance show, Blue sang an original song “Money on You”; a duet with Keys of Prince’s “Diamonds and Pearls,” and Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation,: which closed out the show on a high note.
On Tuesday’s finale, Blue performed “Everybody Hurts” with Usher. Coming in second was Team Blake Shelton’s Lauren Duski. In third place was Team Blake Shelton’s Aliyah Moulden and in fourth place was Team Adam Levine’s Jesse Larson.
Musical guests who performed on the finale result show included Rascal Flatts, CeeLo Green, Luis Fons, Daddy Yankee, Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton, Zedd, Alessia Cara, Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus and Gladys Knight.
After the show, Chris Blue and Alicia Keys spoke backstage at a press conference.
