Emmy Awards 2017: Stephen Colbert set to host

The 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be held live from the Microsoft on Sunday, September 17 on CBS.  Emmy Award winner Stephen Colbert is set to host for the first time and will also serve as a producer.

Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment will executive produce. White Cherry founders Glenn Weiss (executive producer/director) and Ricky Kirshner (executive producer) have won numerous Emmy Awards as producers for “The Tony Awards” on CBS.

“Glenn and Ricky have done outstanding work with CBS on ‘The Tony Awards’ and ‘The Kennedy Center Honors,'” said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events, CBS Entertainment. “This multiple Emmy Award-winning team has produced some of the most unforgettable TV moments, and we can’t wait to work with them on the biggest night celebrating television.”

The team of Weiss and Kirshner have produced a long line of special and television events, including The “Tony Awards, ” the “Kennedy Center Honors,” “NFL Opening Kickoff” specials, “Super Bowl Halftime Shows,” the “Democratic National Convention,” “The Daytime Emmy Awards,” Presidential Inaugural Galas, the “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular,” and numerous others.
