It looks like Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul’s (Christopher Sean) wedding day is about to get complicated when Sonny’s ex Will (Chandler Massey) returns from the dead this week on “Days of our Lives.”
Massey, who won three Daytime Emmys for his role as Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) grandson who first came out as gay to her, returns to the soap this week. Viewers will remember a different face at the time of Will’s “death” (Guy Wilson played the part when Will was killed by the necktie killer) but the show did re-shoot to recreate some of the scenes with Massey.
“The [re-shoots of some of Wilson’s] scenes were very intense and required a lot of energy, but I don’t think it’s weird,” Massey told the New York Post. “When I first started working on the show, I was a recast. There’s a kid named Dylan (Patton), who played Will before me, and there were a bunch of Wills before him. So that’s just kind of how it goes, you know?”
And on why the show brought back him to play Will again instead of Wilson? “Guy did a phenomenal job [as Will Horton],” Massey says. “If I had to speculate, I would say playing Will originally when the coming-out story was happening and all that just worked ultimately in my favor.”
To say that Will’s return to Salem shakes things up is an understatement. The Will drama begins Friday, September 15th the character first appears to his dad, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) as a hallucination.
