In Paul and Sonny’s and Chad and Abby’s double wedding ceremony, “Days of our Lives” viewers were in a for a good old-fashioned soap opera wedding full of laughs, tears, and surprises. The laughs and tears come from the friends and family watching their loved ones commit to each other.
During the ceremony, Sonny (Freddie Smith) pledged his love to Paul (Christopher Sean) and assured him that he was ready to love again after losing his husband Will (Chandler Massey).
In his vows, Sonny said, “It’s true that I was able to see who you were before you could. Or before you could admit it. But you were the one who saw how good we could be together before I had any clue at all. And now we’re standing here, Paul, in front of the most important people in our lives, and they all know, and you know, that I have been in love before. And I lost that love. And for a while, I was lost, and I didn’t want to be found by anyone. You helped me find my way back from a broken heart. You showed me that I could love again, and I’m so happy that it’s you that I fell in love with. And as we begin this journey again, I know that no matter which direction I turn, you’re gonna be there for me like you’ve always been. And Paul, I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that there is not another living soul on this planet that I would rather be standing here with than you.”
But will Sonny’s vows hold true when the love of his life returns?
Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail (Marci Miller) have demons of their own. The couple has had many obstacles that helped drive them to this point- their wedding day – Dario (Jordi Vilasuso), mental illness and the worst one of all – Ben (Robert Scott Wilson).
In Abigail vows to Chad, the blushing bride relished in their adventurous surprising life together. “Life is surprising,” Abigail began. “I used to be really into planning. I think I got it from my mom. But it doesn’t matter how much I plan ’cause I don’t know what’s gonna happen tomorrow. I don’t know what’s gonna happen in the next ten minutes, ten seconds.” And right on cue, a man opened the doors to the church causing the entire church to gasp in shock at who is at the door.
Kudos to “Days of our Lives” for not having the interruption come at the cliched ” If anyone knows why these two should not be married Speak now” moment…
