Daytime Emmy winner Tamara Braun is heading back to “General Hospital.”
The alum, however, will not return to play her previous role of Carly Corinthos which she played from 2001 to 2005. Carly is currently played by Laura Wright.
According to reports from Daytime Confidential and EW, Braun will return to Port Charles as a brand new character on November 22. Braun’s new character will be connected to Steve Burton’s “Patient 6” character.
This isn’t the first time “GH” has had actors return to the show to play completely different characters. Tony Geary played Luke Spencer for three decades on and off, returning to the show for a stint as Luke’s cousin, Bill. “One Life to Live” alums Roger Horwath and Kristen Alderson brought their One Life characters Todd and Starr to Port Charles initially before a seamless exit and a return as new characters Franco and Kiki (Hayley Erin stepped into the role of Kiki when Alderson left in 2015).
Natalia Livingston played Emily Quatermaine and Rebecca Shaw while Michael Easton has played John McBain, Caleb Morley (aka Stephen Clay) and Dr. Silas Clay before settling in as his current character Dr. Hamilton Finn.
Braun is the second former Carly to return to the show as a new character. Sarah Joy Brown, the soap’s original Carly, made a brief return to the soap as Claudia Zacchara from 2008 to 2010.
To find out who Braun will play, catch “General Hospital” airing weekdays on ABC.
