“General Hospital” is celebrating it’s 55th anniversary next month making it the longest-running daytime drama currently in production. The Emmy-award winning show has had a history of airing topical, moving, socially conscious episodes on its birthday. One episode that comes to mind is the 50th episode that introduced flashbacks of Luke and Barbara Jean (Bobbie) Spencer as children on the fateful night that changed the Spencer family dynamic forever.
This year’s upcoming 55 Anniversary episode appears to trigger the same emotions. At the 2nd Annual “General Hospital” convention Q&A panels, Jackie Zemen (Bobbie) teased a bit of what viewers fans might expect from the episode.
“It was great,” the Zemen, who is celebrating 40 years on the show as a decorated member of “General Hospital’s” nursing staff. “We had on our sparkly dresses and celebrated. Most of the cast was in most of the scenes and that was fun and there were also a lot of emotional and sentimental things. So with that, you get what’s current. But you’ll also see these flashbacks from decades ago of scenes you may or may not remember but when you see them again, it’s very emotional and very sentimental. People have been asking for that and I hope they all tune in for that.”
