The Daytime Emmy Awards is 24 hours away and this year’s ceremony is sure to be full of nostalgia and celebration. Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood serve as the night’s hosts.
The Daytime Emmy Awards 2018 are this Sunday live from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT. The Sunday Daytime Emmy Awards will be streamed live on Facebook Live, Twitter, the NATAS website (www.emmyonline.tv), and the KNEKTtv platform.
The Lifetime Achievement Emmy this year goes to “Days of our Lives” actors Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes.
“It’s unbelievable because I never remember watching TV when Susan wasn’t on,” NATAS Senior VicePresident David Michaels said backstage at the Creative Arts Ceremony. “A lot of people don’t realize how much and how often they’ve seen Bill… many don’t know it was Bill that sang the “Ballad of Davey Crockett.” It was a gold record, “The Ballad of Davey Crockett.” [The song reached #1 in 1955.] Susan is the only person who has been on all decades of “Days of our Lives” so Diedre Hall is going to present that to them which is so sweet because they’re really friends. I like that they are friends because it really means something.”
As far as what to expect on Sunday night, Michaels said, “You can expect a major anniversary celebration of the Daytime Emmys which is turning 45 and “The Young and the Restless” is turning 45. “General Hospital” is turning 55, “Wheel of Fortune” is turning 35 and it’s been 50 years since we first saw Mr.Rogers. It’s a big celebration with great retro clips. We’ll have some surprises from the past and people we haven’t seen for a while. It’s very exciting.
