Also starring in the movie will be James Corden and Ian McKellan with Tom Hooper in line to direct.
Tom Hooper is the directory and Lee Hall is adapting the script from the musical.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber hit musical tells the story of a cat tribe called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as “the Jellicle choice” and decide which of them will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.
“Cats” is a sung-through British musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot, won 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical and is the longest-running musical of all-time. Covers of the show-stopper song “Memory,” from the musical has been recorded by Barbra Streisand and Barry Manilow.
