MTV has tapped Charlamagne Tha God and Liza Koshy to co-host the youth brand’s +1 The Vote “Election Afterparty” on Tuesday, November 6th at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kendall Campus.
Grammy Award-winner Ashanti, Jazz Jennings, the co-founders of “March For Our Lives” David Hogg, Delaney Tarr, Jaclyn Corin, Jammal Lemy, Sarah Chadwick and more are set to make guest appearances.
Ashanti will also join Fat Joe for a special performance, as well as previously announced performers PRETTYMUCH, DJ Nasty and Lauren Jauregui. The “Afterparty” will kick off when the polls close in Florida and celebrate the efforts of young people across the nation getting out the vote.
With just one week until Election Day, MTV’s new research reveals:
- 20% increase in young people’s likelihood to encourage a friend to vote in the upcoming midterm election (31% in June, 37% in October)1
- 84% said they would likely attend a party at their local polling station, and it would serve as further motivation to vote
- 62% of young people said they had already encouraged someone to register to vote over the past few months
- 61% of young people reported they are likely to go with a friend to their local polling station to vote
MTV and Tinder teamed up to bolster voter turnout. The dating app’s users will see messaging encouraging them to bring a “+1” to the polls on Election Day. The youth brand is also partnering with Postmates to give a food credit to young people across the country who are celebrating the election with a friend. Users will need to tag a friend and use the hashtag #plus1thevote.

“+1 the Vote” was created in order to harness the power of friendship and ignite the most powerful voting bloc in the country. To date, the campaign has featured a first-of-its-kind +1 the Vote Registration Tool, PSAs encouraging young people to bring their friends to the polls, and an interactive election map profiling young candidates for office. MTV News also released an explainer series breaking down the importance of the midterm elections. MTV and Civic Nation’s #VoteTogether – with support from “Grown-ish” star Yara Shahidi and “Eighteenx18” – partnered to supercharge youth voter participation by funding parties at the polls in all 50 states. The campaign has generated 80 million impressions to date.
