The 2019 BAFTA Awards were held in London this weekend. The ceremony is another stepping stone to who may win the Oscar later this month.
“The Favourite” was the night’s big winner, taking home 4 awards including Best Actress, Olivia Colman, Best Supporting Actress, Rachel Weisz, Best Original Screenplay and Best British Film.
“Hi,” said director Yorgos Lanthimos when accepting the award for Outstanding British Film. “Thank you so much. Thank you, BAFTA. It’s a great honor. This film took 20 years to make. I contributed to the last 10. I want to thank the producers for trusting me. My wonderful crew. Waypoint, Film4, and Fox Searchlight for bringing it to the world. And, of course, the three leading ladies that I couldn’t be more proud of. Thank you very much.”
