South Korean supergroup BTS were the musical guests on last night’s episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” and for their performance of “Boy With Luv,” the group paid tribute to the Beatles’ iconic “Ed Sullivan Show” performance which marked their US television debut. The K-pop group donned matching suits for a black-and-white broadcast at the Ed Sullivan Theater. The drum set featured the Beatles’ signature font, plus Colbert did a reenactment of Sullivan. During the show interview, the band talked about The Beatles comparison and their tour.
Widely considered today’s biggest international boy band, BTS is often compared to the legendary British band who incited similar pandemonium among their legions of fans when they touched down in America in the 1960s.
“Boy With Luv” The track is the first single off BTS’ record-breaking album, “Map of the Soul: Persona.” The album, released April 12, marked their third consecutive No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart in just 11 months, making BTS the only group to achieve that feat since The Beatles in 1995 to 1996.
BTS is currently in the middle of a world tour that kicked off with sold-out dates at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena earlier this month.
