“The Voice” is back for Season 17, premiering Monday, September 23 with a new dynamic but not a new face as Gwen Stefani returns, taking the place of departing judge Adam Levine. Gwen joins real-life boyfriend Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and last season’s winning coach John Legend in the coaches chair looking for the next singer to blow them away with just their voice.
If the premiere episode is any indication, the talent is as good as it is every year. A few of the contestants had the coaches getting pretty aggressive with their need to get a contestant to join their team.
Check out a sneak peek of the premiere below.
The block is back, and it’s pretty funny at to see the coaches try to stop 6-time “The Voice” winner Blake, who reminds them that he had three people on his team in the finale.
Gwen and Blake’s relationship plays a charming factor when she tries really hard to talk Blake into letting her have a contestant who [spoiler alert] didn’t end up picking either one of them as his/her coach.
Gwen and Kelly are united in saying that this season is the “blondes vs the bros,” as they try to defeat John and Blake for the best people, but the real battle seems to be Gwen against Kelly. It’s the battle of the jackets as the two women vied for contestants with really convincing arguments about why someone should join their teams. The killer jackets are a bonus, Kelly’s a green racing pit crew jacket while Gwen’s jacket camouflage with elements of her stage persona and her No Doubt days.
Whoever the contestants picked, they are in good hands with four strong and passionate coaches.
“The Voice” premieres Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24 at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
