Jeannie Mai will be exiting “Dancing with the Stars.” Mai has been hospitalized with epiglottitis and requires surgery meaning that she and her partner, pro dancer Brandon Armstrong, will no longer be able to participate in the rest of the season.
“My doctors discovered a health concern with my throat which requires immediate attention and surgery,” Mai said in a statement to “Good Morning America.”
“I am heartbroken that my DWTS journey has to end here. I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we’ve come.”
Originally, the show was set to eliminate two pairings this week; now, a single pairing will be sent home.
