TVMusic Network Remembers ‘Gilligan’s Island’s’ Dawn Wells

Dawn Wells, who played girl-next-door Mary Ann on “Gilligan’s Island,” died on December 30 at the age of 82 her publicist announced.

Wells died in Los Angeles of causes related to COVID-19.

“Gilligan’s Island” ran from 1964-67 but forever lived on in syndication, making the show and its stars pop culture icons. The show’s theme song can often be sung word for word by millions of viewers around the world.

On the show besides Mary Ann on the shipwrecked SS Minnow were Gilligan (Bob Denver); the Skipper (Alan Hale Jr.); millionaire Thurston Howell III (Jim Backus) and his wife, Lovey (Natalie Schafer); the Professor (Russell Johnson); and Hollywood movie star Ginger Grant (Louise).
