A virtual live concert honoring David Bowie called, “A Bowie Celebration – Just for One Day,” will now take place via online on Saturday, January 9th. The event was postponed from the 8th after technical and Covid-19 issues. January 8 would have been Bowie’s 74th birthday.
Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Billy Corigan of The Smashing Pumpkins, Ian Astbury of The Cult, Duran Duran, Gavin Rossdale, Perry Farrell, Lzzy Hale, Trent Renzor, Atticus Ross, Boy George, Adam Lambert and more are scheduled to perform Bowie’s music many of which will put their own style into Bowie’s songs.
The show was put together by Mike Garson, Bowie’s longtime band mate and pianist. Garson had this to say about the show:
“I reached out to friends who had played with David, people who grew up listening to him, those he inspired and influenced,” Garson says. “Artist after artist I spoke with, each immediately understood my vision and enthusiastically said yes to taking part in this special show. That’s the magic of David’s legacy. Like many of the great and timeless songwriters before him — George Gershwin, Cole Porter — David left the world with an amazing and enduring library of music and this is the perfect time to be able to share that music in such a unique and cathartic way.”
Tickets start at $25 and are available for $2 from each ticket will be donated to one of Bowie’s favorite charities, Save the Children. For tickets: https://rollinglivestudios.com/collections/bowie
