‘American Idol’ Announces Top 7 Contestants

American Idol returned on Sunday, May 2nd.  To kick off the night, the results of the Comeback show were announced. The winner was Arthur Gnn who was last year’s runner up. Then, after the top nine travel to Walt Disney World for a one-on-one session with a celebrity mentor John Stamos and inspiration from the Most Magical Place on Earth, the season’s top 10 contestants, performed a song from the Disney songbook in hopes of securing America’s real-time vote. The top seven finalists were revealed at the end of the episode.  Sophia Carson performed ” A Whole New World” with The Top 9 contestants and Jon Batiste performed “It’s Allright” from the Oscar winning animated movie “SOUL”. . At the end of the show DeShawn Goncalves, Cassandra Coleman and Alyssa Wray were eliminated from the competition.Next week the contestants will perform the songs of Coldplay with mentoring by Chris Martin.
