FOX ordered the new drama MONARCH (aka UNTITLED COUNTRY MUSIC DYNASTY), from executive producers Melissa London Hilfers (creator), Michael Rauch (showrunner), Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady and Jason Owen, to series for 2021-22. 100% owned by FOX Entertainment, MONARCH is one of FOX’s first two series to bypass a pilot order, advance straight to a writers’ room commitment and subsequently be ordered to series (joining OUR KIND OF PEOPLE).
“Monarch” is described as a Texas-sized, a multigenerational musical drama about America’s first family of country music. The Romans are fiercely talented, but while their name is synonymous with honesty, the very foundation of their success is a lie. When their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, Nicky Roman, the heir to the crown, already battling an industry stacked against her, will stop at nothing to protect her family’s legacy.
The series will feature original music and covers.
As one of music’s top managers, Owen brings a strong pedigree to the project. Well known for his unique, 360-degree approach to artist development, branding and marketing, Owen’s experience, knowledge and extensive relationships in the world of country music impart a true insider’s perspective to the series’ authentic storytelling. Owen’s client roster includes Kacey Musgraves, Faith Hill, Dan + Shay, Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, Midland, as well as the estates of Johnny and June Carter Cash. It’s safe to assume some of Owen’s superstar clients and friends will be appearing and/or performing on the show.
