What To Watch Tuesday: ‘Stargirl’: Brec Bassinger Teases Season 2

“Stargirl” returns for Season 2 tonight on The CW featuring series stars Brec Bassinger, Amy Smart and Luke Wilson.

After defeating the ISA last year, we find our new Justice Society of America led by our intrepid Stargirl, still trying to shake, strike the balance between being superheroes and living their lives as regular teenagers. But nothing stays quiet for long, even in the idyllic town of Blue Valley, as we are going to turn up the action and adventure of this season with new allies, new enemies, and the introduction of one of DC’s most frightening adversaries, Eclipso.

Series star Brec Bassinger on what’s next after the gang took down the ISA, “So, Season 2 picks up about six months later, and Courtney is full-on full-fledge Stargirl. She’s turning up every single rock to try to find some trouble, but after stopping the ISA, there’s not much trouble — until there is, dun-dun-dunnnn!”

Courtney also seems to be looking for trouble this season.

“I think it’s a big part of this season,” Bassinger said. “Just, like, from the very beginning, she is so looking for villains, looking for trouble, even though there is none, because she just loves being a superhero so freaking much. And it’s fun to have that. Just as an actor, it’s fun to play such a positive person, because I feel like it brings positivity to me too personally. So, it’s a very spot-on question for this season.”

Although when looking for superheroes, the actress looks to family but also one of the original Wonder Woman from DC Comics.

“I mean, I have tons of superheroes in my life like my family, and my mom is a real-life superhero, in my opinion,” Bassigner said. “But as for a more fictional superhero, I remember going to Six Flags going up and I just thought Wonder Woman was the coolest girl. I would take pictures next to her. More recently, I really loved Spider-Man. I think it’s cool that he’s in high school. So I really related to him. Talking about, like, why people love superheroes, the Spider-Man: Homecoming, like, I loved that movie so much, ’cause it came out when I was transitioning out of high school, so I felt I related to him so much and I loved seeing him trying to balance the high school and the superhero life. So more recently, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, I feel love.”
