Television icon Betty White has died on December 31 just a few weeks short of her 100th birthday. The star of “The Golden Girls”, “The Mary Tyler Moore,” and “Hot In Cleveland,” was 99.
Her career spanned 80 years and she became of the few female television pioneers with her own series “Life with Elizabeth” and her venture into daytime television in the 1960s. White was a frequent guest on “Password,” where she met and subsequently wed its host, Allen Ludden. She also appeared on “The Match Game” and “The $25,000 Pyramid.”
She was the first woman to receive an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show host for the show “Just Men.” White took a turn from her comedy roots when she took on a recurring role on “The Bold and the Beautiful” from 2006 to 2009. “The Bold and the Beautiful” is the most-watched daytime drama in the world with over 35 million viewers each day.
Her movie career soured again when she starred in “The Proposal,” opposite Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
