Tito Puente is the latest star to be celebrated with a Google Doodle.
In celebration of Latin/Hispanic Heritage Month Google has Puente as a doodle on their site. The doodle is created by New York based Puerto Rican illustrator Carlos Aponte.
The Google Doodle celebrates the one year anniversary of the Tito Puente Monument which was unveiled in his hometown of East Harlem, New York.
Tito Puente was a Latin musician, songwriter, producer, bandleader and percussionist. He was born Ernest Antonio Puente Jr. on April 20, 1923.
Puente released more than 100 albums which includes hits “Oye Como Va”, “LaGuarachera”, “Mambo Gozon”, “Ran Kan Kan” and many more. “Ran Kan Kan ” is featured on the Gooogle Doodle.
Puente passed away in 2000, the same year 110th Street was renamed Tito Puente Way.
