“American Idol” aired live coast to coast on Sunday, May 7, on ABC. GRAMMY® Award winners Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran joined Luke Bryan as “American Idol” guest judges on Sunday.
Alanis pulled double duty as guest judge and mentored the remaining contestants. They performed her songs live on the show. The finalists also teamed up with each other on special duets of Ed Sheeran’s hit songs.
Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran also both took to the Idol stage to perform. Morissette performed her hit song “Thank U”. This year marks the 28th Anniversary of her album “Jagged Little Pill”. She will tour this year in the United States and in Asia.
Ed Sheeran gave Idol viewers an exclusive performance of his brand-new single ‘Eyes Closed”. Sheeran has a new album, a new documentary on Disney Plus and has just started a Spring tour.
At the end of the show, the Top 5 was announced:

Haven Madison, Warren Peay and Oliver Steele were eliminated from the competition.
American Idol continues on Sunday, May 14 with the theme being Disney week.
