‘Grown-ish’: Series Graduates with Series Finale Party

“Grown-ish” says goodbye as the students of Cal U graduate as the series ends after 6 seasons. Freeform hosted a graduation party ahead of the finale episode which sees Zoey (Yara Shahidi), and Aaron (Trevor Jackson) deciding their future and Andre Jr. (Marcus Scribner) graduating. Shahidi and Scribner, at the age of 13, both originally began the characters of Zoey and Jr. on the popular ABC series “black-ish,” before moving away from the Johnson home to college and the fictional Cal U.

In the final episode, viewers saw Andre graduate and oldest Johnson male was set to have the biggest graduation party before beginning life as an adult. His boss (Rich Paul in a special guest starring role) tells him to skip the party and get to work. His friends decide to bring the party to him and take the yacht out to sea. While there, Zoey and Aaron have an awkward reunion at the party but ultimately commit to each other once and for all is an impromptu wedding on the yacht. Zoey after running out on Aaron’s proposal, works it out in her mind and proposes to Aaron. Since they are already on a yacht, they get married in an impromptu wedding. (Where did they get their wedding attire when they were out ?)

The night before the finale, the graduation party was held at Hollywood hot spot Mother Wolf, the party was transformed into the Cal U Alumni Clubhouse, featuring unique photo moments, custom swag, one-of-a-kind memorabilia, and screens highlighting fan-favorite episodes from the iconic series.

Attending the magical night were series regulars Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Trevor Jackson as well as guest stars Daniella Taylor, Tara Raani, and Ceyair Wright, show creator Kenya Barris, and Emmy award winning costume designer Michelle R. Cole. Shahidi wore an elegant MSGM Milano dress to the party, which was the same dress her character Zoey wore on the graduation episode of the show.

The “Grown-ish” series finale airs Wednesday, May 22nd at 10/9c on Freeform (streaming next day on Hulu)
