Sharon Case has been playing Sharon Newman on “The Young and the Restless” for 30 years. The show will mark the occasion with a special Sharon-centric episode on Friday, September 27.
“I don’t want to spoil it for, people, but it was a long day,” Case tells TV Insider. “There were a lot of scenes and I had a lot of dialogue to memorize. I was in a time frame where I was in a lot of shows and doing a lot of work and long hours and that was one of those moments of terror. I didn’t think I’d be able to do it, but the crew and the people I work with are right there with you. We all work together as a group so well. My stage manager, Fritz [Brekeller], and my director, Sally McDonald, really were key in getting me through that and making it so that I could accomplish that show. It was a big show, so thank you to them.”
Sharon, who has been battling internal demons of lates, is being haunted by hallucinations of Cameron (Linden Ashby), a man from her past whom she killed. The story comes to a head during the episode.
Viewers can also expect flashbacks highlighting Sharon’s three-decade journey including scenes with on and off love interest Nick (Joshua Morrow).
“They used flashbacks that were relevant to what is going on in that episode for Sharon,” Case shared. “It is a Sharon-centric episode, but it isn’t a one-off or a separate day. It makes sense within the storyline that we’re doing. It isn’t an episode where we’re just going to air all my favorite flashbacks.”
“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays on CBS.
