“American Idol” continued its Hollywood Week on Sunday, April 6 on ABC.
The contestants performed a song in front of the judges in the Showstopper round mentored by artist Jellyroll.

The 62 remaining hopefuls performed a song of their choice. Canaan James Hill, Gabby Simone, Zaylie Windsor and Mattie Pruitt made the Top 24 after the round. 16 contestants were sent home before the next round including JMarie, Will Carter, Jazzy Mae,Santina Madden, Christina Stutzmann,Isaiah Moore,and Samantha Ray.

At the end of the episode the show was down to 42 contestants that will compete in the Head to Head round the next day with a partner of their choice. The duos had to pick a song from a select list to perform that evening. Jellyroll will mentor this round as well. The judges will pick the final 20 to complete in the Top 24.

“American Idol” airs on Sundays and Mondays on ABC. The groundbreaking series also launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson,Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, Fantasia,Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Gabby Barrett, and Scotty McCreery, among many others.
