American Idol Season 23 announce Top 20 contestants with Easter Sunday show
“American Idol” aired a special Easter Sunday, April 20 show with host Ryan Seacrest and judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood for a three-hour event titled “Songs of Faith.”
The night featured uplifting performances by CeCe Winans alongside “Idol” alum Roman Collins, the show’s artist in residence Jelly Roll, Christian artist Brandon Lake, and The Brown Four. The judges each took the stage for performances. Lionel Richie performed his song “Eternity” with the Top 24 contestants, Luke Bryan performed “Jesus “Bout My Kids”. Carrie Underwood performed “How Great Thou Art”.
The competition continued as the remaining 20 “Idol” finalists performed faith-inspired songs, competing for America’s votes as they moved closer to the “American Idol” crown. Viewers were able to vote after the show to determine who will move on to the next phase of the competition.The remaining 20 contestants will perform on Monday, April 21. America’s vote will decide the Top 14 contestants.
