The NBC hit drama “Found” is back for a suspenseful thrilling season as Gabi continues to help find the missing while dealing with the repercussions of keeping her kidnapper Sir locked up – He’s taken Lacey, causing everyone to find out Gabi’s secret – she held Sir captive for 9 months and now he’s escaped.

In the premiere episode entitled “Missing While Bait,” Gabi (Shanola Hampton) and her team at Mosely & Associates begin to spiral amid Gabi’s shocking revelation. Lacey’s childhood flashbacks begin to resurface, providing vital clues as Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) remains at large.

“Found’s” executive producer, creator and showrunner, Nkechi Okoro talked to reporters at the NBC portion of the Television Critics Association about what’s coming up for the series, including Sir interacting with all the characters not that he isn’t locked up anymore.

“It was always envisioned this way, but it has been so much fun in the writers’ room because Sir isn’t just interacting with Gabi anymore,” she said. “He’s out in the world, which means he interacts with other people in the world, and it’s been so much fun to see that side of the character when it’s not anchored by this is the person that is my life companion. This is a person that I think the world of, but now he’s interacting with other people who may or may not be helpful or obstacles to his end game. So that has been fun and very interesting to write. And also, as you saw at the end of Season 1, Gabi’s secret is out the bag. The team knows. And so how do you solve cases the way they do where their superpower comes from their connectedness. It comes from their collective ability to turn their trauma into positivity. It comes from the fact that they’re a family. How do you keep doing that when a fundamental trust has been broken?”

The show’s mission has always been to put a light on the missing and the real-life efforts to make sure all victims get attention when they go missing no matter what. That mission will remain high going into season 2.

“That states the heart of the show.  It is the reason I created the show,” Okoro said. “It states the heart of the show.  Unfortunately, the world keeps giving us more angles to that story to tell.  And until it doesn’t, I will forever have stories to tell with that at the heart of it.  And, so, that is absolutely — stays part of that journey in season two.  Like, yes, Sir is out.  Yes, there’s a whole sort of thriller dynamic with that.  But the heart of the show, the heart of the cases they’re solving still continue to deal with the fact that there is a disproportionate amount of people in this world who are considered disposable and therefore are not highlighted when they go missing.  It’s our show’s job to bring attention to that, and we continue to do that.”
