A new poster celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock has been released. Arnold Skolnick, designer of the iconic 1969 poster showing a dove perched on the arm of a guitar, also designed the updated 2009 edition poster.
“The client said he wanted the event to be ‘peaceful, three days long and a lot of music’ so that’s what I gave him”, said Skolnick when remembering how the original poster came to be. Skolnick’s subdued design and peaceful message insured that the event would not be banned. In doing so he created a unique rock poster for the ages.
The Woodstock 40th Anniversary silkscreen poster is available exclusively
through International Poster Gallery in Boston in a limited edition of 285, numbered and signed by Skolnick. International Poster Gallery is located at 205 Newbury Street in Boston.
