All My Children continued it’s 40th birthday party in Los Angeles as part of the 2010 Winter Press Tour. Attending the panel were Creator Agnes Nixon, Executive Producer Julie Hanan Carruthers and cast members, Susan Lucci, Bobbie Eakes, Cameron Mathison and Rebecca Budig.
During the press conference, Carruthers said that a replacement for ousted Head Writer, Charles Pratt, would be announced in a few weeks.
The on-air anniversary celebration last week consisted of a special two episode arc featuring the return of former cast members Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Eva LaRue, Eden Riegal, Julia Barr, Levin Ramblin, Larry Lau, Taylor Miller and James Mitchell.
In addition to creating “All My Children”, the show that introduced the world to Erica Kane, Nixon is also the creator of the ABC Television Network’s “Loving” and the Emmy winning “One Life to Live,” now entering its 42nd year on ABC.
“All My Children” took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, the third time the show received this top honor, having garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. It also received its third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series Writing.
This year the show is nominated for multiple leading industry awards, including the NAACP Image Awards, Writer’s Guild Awards, Director’s Guild Awards and the GLADD Awards.
