The Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC) held their 16th Annual PRISM Awards this week in Beverly Hills. The PRISM Awards honor television and film productions and performances that accurately depict drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction, as well as mental health issues in entertainment productions.Performance awards are presented to those actors who displayed unparalleled authenticity in their portrayals of characters in productions related to mental health and/or substance use issues including alcohol use, illegal drug use, prescription drug use, depression, suicide, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, bipolar, and other related topics. Such shows as “Castle,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Shameless” “Dr. Drew” and “Shameless” were honored. Daytime TV Examiner in conjunction with Spotlight-On-Entertainment had a chance to talk to Dr. Karim on the red carpet about how important it is to seek help for addictions and about the event.
