CNN, which has been looking for a way to end their ratings slump has greenlit a new series, “Inside Man” by documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock. Spurlock is best known for the popular documentary film “Super Size Me,” in which he addressed America’s obesity problem by consuming a diet consisting of only McDonalds for 30 days.
The new series will debut in April 2013. The formerly all-news network recently announced their decision to go outside of their normal format for programming as the network has seen an all-time ratings low in recent years.
The network is looking for programming from outside production companies that produce shows for the History Channel, NatGeo and A&E.
The eight episode series will provide an insider’s view into rarely-seen sectors of American life that include gun lovers, marijuana growers, migrant farm workers, and end-of-life caregivers.
Spurlock was nominated for an Academy Awards for “Super Size Me” and hosted the FX series “30 Days.”
