From Latin superstar Jenni Rivera comes a new reality show, “Chiquis ‘n Control” a show based on her daughter Chiquis starting her own business in Los Angeles.
This one-hour, 11-part reality show, is a spin-off of mun2’s most popular and highest-rated original reality series, “I Love Jenni,” following the life of Chiquis Rivera. In “Chiquis ‘n Control” viewers will follow Chiquis as she moves out of the Rivera home for the first time and strikes out on her own.
Following in the footsteps of her mother, Chiquis will open her very own first business, a blow dry salon, called Blow Me Dry in Encino. Chiquis’s friends and employees are there for her as she tries to branch out on her own and make her mom proud of her.
“I’m stepping out on my own and it’s not always easy,” Chiquis said. “Building a new business is a challenge – from permits to hiring stylists to building a client base. It’s a process and I have been learning along the way. I know that traditionally most single Latinas don’t leave home until marriage, however, I have a strong, independent role model in my mother and this was something I wanted to do. It’s been hard. While I love to be by myself, to live on my own, I miss being with my family at times. However, Faith is what leads me and I’m not going to be scared of anything or anyone – from business to just discovering myself.”
Chiquis will be forced to balance her responsibilities to her family, her social/dating life, with being the boss of her first business venture. In each episode, viewers will experience both the drama inside the salon as well as in Chiquis’ home and personal life.
Jenni appears in the episodes to give Chiquis advice about starting out on her own. Chiquis just wants to make her mother proud.
The closet in her apartment that she converted from her bedroom is worth watching the first episode alone. “Chiquis ‘n Control” airs Saturday afternoons on Mun 2.
