La’Porsha Renae finished as the runner up on the farewell season of “American Idol”. Renae lost to Trent Harmon, the 25 year old singer from Amory, MS. La Porsha Renae is 22 and hails from McComb, MS. She was offered a record deal by show mentor Scott Borchetta as soon as the show ended. Renae will be on Big Machine Records in their first joint venture with Motown Records.
The two-part grand finale was filled with surprise appearances including winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, along with Jennifer Hudson, who returned to the IDOL stage one last time to perform. The farewell celebration continued, as IDOL paid tribute to the past 15 seasons.
Thursday’s final episode had all-star performances by former IDOLs, including Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani, Ace Young, Allison Iraheta, Amber Holcomb, Blake Lewis, Bo Bice, Brandon Rogers, Bucky Covington, Carly Smithson, Casey James, Chris Daughtry, Clark Beckham, Clay Aiken, Colton Dixon, Constantine Maroulis, Danny Gokey, Diana DeGarmo, Elliott Yamin, George Huff, James Durbin, Jennifer Hudson, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Justin Guarini, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Kimberley Locke, Kree Harrison, LaToya London, Lauren Alaina, Melinda Doolittle, Pia Toscano, Sanjaya, Skylar Laine, Tamyra Gray and more, before host Ryan Seacrest announced the results of America’s votes and the final IDOL was crowned.
