HBO’s Westworld |
Once again Emmy night appears to belong to HBO. “Westworld,” the fantasy drama starring Anthony Hopkins and Jeffrey Wright earned a total of 22 nominations.
“Westworld” record breaking number was tied by NBC’s long running sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live.” The aftermath of the 2016 election has kept the show, its cast mates and guest hosts incredibly busy. Frequent hosts Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks and Melissa McCarthy all received nominations as well as regulars Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Vanessa Bayer.
Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and FX’s “Feud: Bette and Joan” tied for the second-most nominations with 18, while HBO’s “Veep” was close behind with 17.
NBC’s hit drama “This Is Us” picked up nominations for Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Milo Ventimiglia and Ron Cephas. Brown posted a message on Twitter to acknowledge the nomination.
